Patna: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday hit out at the NDA government in Bihar after police lathicharged demonstrators in Patna.
It remains unclear whether Gandhi was referring to the baton charge on striking land surveyors, 16 of whom were suspended by the state government, or on teacher aspirants protesting for the release of supplementary recruitment exam results.
Sharing a video of the incident on X, Gandhi wrote in Hindi, “When young people demand jobs, they are met with lathis. When they ask for their rights, they get repression.”
He further added, “This time, the youth of Bihar will show this ‘guNDA’ government its real place — the countdown has begun.”*
The remarks come just months ahead of the Bihar assembly elections.
