US President Donald Trump will meet Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly’s 80th high-level session in New York.
Trump is scheduled to deliver his first address of his second presidential term at the UNGA General Debate on Tuesday morning, where he is expected to highlight America’s renewed global strength and what he calls his “historic accomplishments” in just eight months, including ending “seven global wars and conflicts,” according to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.
Leavitt added that Trump will also outline his vision for a new world order, criticising what he describes as the failures of globalist institutions. He is also expected to repeat his claim of having resolved the conflict between India and Pakistan.
In addition to his speech, Trump will hold bilateral meetings with UN Secretary-General António Guterres and the leaders of Ukraine, Argentina, and the European Union. Later, he will join a multilateral session with leaders from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Türkiye, Pakistan, Egypt, the UAE, and Jordan.
Trump arrives in New York on Monday evening and will return to Washington the following night.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s UN mission confirmed that Prime Minister Sharif will head his country’s delegation to the UNGA, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, along with other ministers and senior officials.
