If I was not awarded Nobel Prize, it would be a ‘big insult’ to America: Trump
US President Donald Trump has claimed it would be a “major insult” to America if he does not receive the Nobel Peace Prize after reportedly ending more than seven global conflicts.
Speaking Tuesday to military leaders in Quantico, Trump outlined his plan to resolve the Gaza conflict, saying, “We got it, I think, settled. We’ll see. Hamas has to agree, and if they don’t, it’s going to be very tough on them. But all of the Arab nations, Muslim nations, have agreed. Israel has agreed. It’s an amazing thing. It just came together.”
Trump asserted that if his Gaza initiative succeeds, he would have brokered eight conflicts in as many months.
Addressing the possibility of receiving a Nobel Prize, he added, “That’s pretty good. Nobody’s ever done that. Will you get the Nobel Prize? Absolutely not. They’ll give it to someone who didn’t do anything. They might give it to a writer who wrote a book about me and what it took to resolve the wars. The Nobel Prize will go to a writer, maybe, but we’ll see.”
He emphasised that the recognition should go to the country rather than himself, saying, “It’ll be a big insult to our country.
I don’t want it. I want the country to get it. There’s never been anything like this. Think of it—eight conflicts resolved. I know more about deals than anyone; this is my life’s work. To have done eight of them is such an honour.”
