Leh: Authorities in Leh on Friday further relaxed curfew restrictions, allowing markets and shops to open between 10am and 6pm.
The partial reopening comes after several days of strict security measures following the September 24 incident, which left four civilians dead during protests. Residents were seen visiting shops and buying essential items as public movement gradually increased, though armed forces personnel remained deployed at key locations.
Officials said the decision to ease restrictions was made after assessing the current situation. Police and administrative sources noted that no major law and order issues have occurred since the initial unrest, prompting a phased resumption of normal activities.
Markets had been closed since the protests erupted late last month, coinciding with the imposition of curfew and suspension of mobile internet services. Authorities have appealed to residents to cooperate with law enforcement and adhere to existing guidelines, warning that any violations could lead to reinstatement of curfew or other restrictions.
