Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday detained a woman from Thailand and booked the owner of a spa centre in the Channi Himmat area of Jammu after detecting suspected immoral activities during late-night raids.
A police official told Daily Excelsior that the woman was found inside the O2 Spa Centre during a checking drive on Saturday night and was detained for questioning as part of the investigation.
The spa owner, identified as Jai Singh, a resident of Kurukshetra in Haryana, has been booked under FIR No. 237/2025 registered at Police Station Channi Himmat under Section 24 of the Immigration Act and Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for keeping a foreign national at the spa centre without permission or prior intimation to the authorities, the official said.
The action followed specific intelligence inputs about suspected immoral activities at spa centres operating along the National Highway in the Channi Himmat area, the official added.
Acting on the inputs, a team from Police Station Channi Himmat, led by the station house officer and accompanied by lady police staff and an executive magistrate, conducted raids on multiple spa centres on Saturday night.
During the operation, police carried out detailed checks of the premises and examined official records, registers and other documents maintained by the management to verify compliance with norms.
Police also seized DVRs and other incriminating material, which have been taken into custody for further examination, the official said.
The spa owner has been absconding since the raids, and a manhunt has been launched to arrest him. Further investigation is underway to ascertain whether a wider network is involved and to verify the role of other individuals connected with the spa centres.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of the SDPO East and SP City South, with overall supervision by the SSP Jammu.
