New Delhi: Police have arrested two men allegedly associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang following a shootout in north Delhi, sources told PTI on Thursday.
One of the suspects sustained a bullet injury to his leg during the exchange of fire, while a constable narrowly escaped injury after a bullet struck his bulletproof vest.
Police said the accused were linked to recent firing incidents at a gym in outer Delhi and an extortion-related attack on a businessman in east Delhi’s Vinod Nagar.
Officials said the North Delhi anti-narcotics team received intelligence that the suspects would arrive near Hiranki Mor, following which a trap was laid. When police attempted to intercept them, the suspects allegedly opened fire, forcing the police team to retaliate.
One accused was injured in the retaliatory firing and shifted to a nearby hospital, while the other was arrested at the spot. Two pistols and live cartridges were recovered from their possession, police said.
