New Delhi: A man was allegedly stabbed multiple times inside his home in Vasundhara, near Delhi, on the morning of October 26, after which police arrested his wife and her gym trainer for allegedly conspiring to kill him.

The incident took place at the Jagriti Resident Welfare Association Society in Sector 1 of Vasundhara, under the jurisdiction of Indirapuram police station.

According to police, the victim, Shashank Kantharia, was attacked as his wife, Priya Sharma, was leaving their residence for the gym. The accused, identified as Pratap Singh, allegedly entered the house and stabbed Shashank several times before fleeing when the injured man cried out for help.

Police reached the spot after receiving information about the incident and took Shashank to Yashoda Medicity Hospital, where he survived the attack.

Shashank, originally from the Purani Pasarat area of Jhansi, married Priya around four years ago. Both worked as senior accountants in Delhi and lived together in Vasundhara Sector 1. Police said Priya had been married previously.

Gym trainer, wife allegedly planned attack

Police have arrested Priya Sharma and Pratap Singh in connection with the case and recovered the knife allegedly used in the attack.

Singh works as a trainer at Fitness Headquarters gym, which Priya had been attending for the past seven to eight months. During this period, the two allegedly grew close, and their friendship developed into a romantic relationship. They reportedly communicated regularly through WhatsApp.

During questioning, Singh allegedly told police that he and Priya intended to marry.

Investigators said Shashank had discovered the relationship and was planning to relocate after Diwali. According to the police version, the couple subsequently decided to kill him.

Police further alleged that Priya and Singh met while out for a run on the morning of October 25, when they discussed the plan to attack Shashank.

Accused allegedly entered house through unlocked gate

According to investigators, Singh arrived at Shashank’s residence with a knife the following morning. Priya had allegedly left the gate unlocked, allowing him to enter the house and attack her husband before escaping.

Police also said the two had exchanged WhatsApp messages on the night before the stabbing. During questioning, Singh allegedly claimed that he attacked Shashank at Priya’s request.

Investigators further alleged that Priya would sometimes remain at home, citing illness, and invite Singh over after her husband had left for work.

Case registered for attempted murder, conspiracy

The case was registered following a complaint by Shashank’s brother. Police have invoked charges relating to attempted murder and criminal conspiracy against Priya Sharma and Pratap Singh.
