GoI advises Indian nationals to leave Iran, issues emergency contacts

Indian Embassy in Iran issues helpline numbers

New Delhi: The Government of India has advised all Indian nationals currently in Iran to leave the country using available transport, including commercial flights, in view of the evolving security situation.

In an updated advisory that reiterates earlier notices issued on January 5 and January 14, authorities urged Indian citizens — including students, pilgrims, businesspersons and tourists — to exercise caution, avoid areas witnessing protests or demonstrations, and closely monitor local media for developments.

The advisory also called on Indians to remain in regular contact with the Embassy of India, Tehran and ensure that their travel and immigration documents, such as passports and identification papers, are readily accessible.

The embassy has activated emergency helplines to assist nationals requiring support:
Mobile: +989128109115, +989128109109, +989128109102, +989932179359. Email: [email protected]

Indian nationals who have not yet registered with the embassy have been requested to do so through the designated online portal. In cases where individuals are unable to register due to internet disruptions in Iran, their families in India have been asked to complete the process on their behalf.

The government said the measures are aimed at ensuring the safety and timely assistance of Indian citizens in the region.
