Trump claims Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is dead; Iran denies
Iranian officials have called the reports of Khamenei’s death part of “psychological warfare” conducted by Iran’s enemies
Donald Trump has claimed that Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has been killed in US-Israeli strikes on Tehran.
Iranian supreme leader’s daughter, son-in-law and grandson have been killed in a strike, semi-official Fars news agency reported.
However, Iranian officials have called the reports of Khamenei’s death part of “psychological warfare” conducted by Iran’s enemies.
Writing on social media, the US president described the alleged killing as “justice” for the people of Iran, Americans, and “people from many countries throughout the world.”
He further stated that the bombing would continue, calling the moment “the single greatest chance for the Iranian people to take back their country.” Trump also asserted that many Iranian forces “no longer want to fight,” while releasing a full statement elaborating on his position.
Meanwhile, “before and after” satellite images appear to show damage to Khamenei’s compound in Tehran. The United States and Israel launched coordinated attacks across multiple parts of the country, with Israel earlier identifying seven officials it said it had killed, though it did not include the supreme leader among them.
In response, Iran reportedly launched attacks across the Middle East. Iranian strikes have been reported in Dubai, Doha, Bahrain, and Kuwait, locations that either host US military bases or are allied with the United States.
According to the Red Crescent, more than 200 people have been killed across Iran. Iranian media reported that at least 85 of those deaths occurred when an airstrike struck a girls’ school.
