Gaza death toll rises to 72,278; over 1.72 lakh injured
The death toll from Israel’s offensive in the Gaza Strip has climbed to 72,278, with 172,013 people injured since October 2023, according to medical officials.
Health authorities said that in the past 24 hours alone, hospitals recorded 10 deaths and 18 injuries following Israeli strikes.
Since the ceasefire began on October 11, 2025, at least 702 Palestinians have been killed and 1,913 injured. Authorities also reported the recovery of 756 bodies during this period.
Officials added that many victims are still believed to be trapped beneath rubble or lying in the streets, as rescue and civil defence teams have been unable to access several affected areas.
The prolonged conflict has devastated Gaza’s infrastructure, with hospitals overwhelmed, medical supplies running critically low, and large parts of the territory reduced to rubble. Essential services such as electricity, clean water and sanitation have been severely disrupted, worsening the humanitarian crisis.
Displacement remains widespread, with thousands of families forced to flee their homes and take shelter in overcrowded camps or damaged buildings. Food shortages and limited access to aid have further deepened the suffering, leaving many residents struggling to meet basic needs.
