Committee on security meets in Delhi under Modi to review West Asia War
New Delhi: Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on Wednesday chaired a special meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) to review steps taken by various ministries and departments, and to consider additional measures in light of the ongoing conflict in West Asia.
According to an official release, the Cabinet Secretary briefed the meeting on efforts to ensure an adequate supply of petroleum products, particularly LNG and LPG, as well as sufficient power availability.
The government said steps have been taken to diversify LPG procurement, with supplies now being sourced from multiple countries. The Cabinet Secretary also informed the Prime Minister that LNG imports are being secured from different nations, while domestic LPG prices have remained unchanged despite the crisis.
He further highlighted initiatives aimed at expanding Piped Natural Gas connections across the country.
Modi reviewed the availability of essential commodities for citizens, including fertilisers, and discussed measures to ensure adequate supply for the upcoming Kharif and Rabi seasons. He stressed the need to shield the public from the impact of the conflict and underscored the importance of disseminating accurate information to curb misinformation and rumours.
Modi also directed all concerned departments to take necessary steps to ease difficulties faced by citizens and sectors affected by the evolving global situation.
