Trump to attend G7 summit in France: Report

Donald Trump.

US President Donald Trump will attend the Group of Seven (G7) leaders’ summit in France next month, where he is expected to discuss artificial intelligence, trade and crime-fighting, according to an Axios report citing a White House official.

The summit will be held from June 15 to 17 in the lakeside resort town of Evian-les-Bains in eastern France, near the French Alps.

According to Axios, Trump plans to promote the adoption of US-developed artificial intelligence tools, advocate linking U.S. foreign aid to trade agreements, and push for efforts to reduce China’s dominance over critical mineral supply chains.

France, which holds the G7 presidency this year, is hosting leaders from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Japan and the European Union.

Trump’s participation comes amid growing tensions between Washington and several G7 partners over his administration’s war with Iran and broader disagreements on trade and foreign policy.
