Citizens urged not to dump animal hides and waste in public places; ward-wise collection vehicles deployed across Srinagar

Srinagar: The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) on Tuesday appealed to residents not to throw skins, hides and other waste from sacrificial animals in public places, roadsides or mix them with routine municipal waste during Eid-Ul-Azha celebrations.

In a public advisory issued by the Office of the Chief Transport Officer, SMC said adequate arrangements had been made for the collection and proper disposal of sacrificial waste in all wards of Srinagar city to ensure sanitation and cleanliness during the festival.

The civic body said special vehicles and drivers had been designated ward-wise for the first day of Eid-Ul-Azha on May 27, and residents could avail the service free of cost.

“Respected citizens of Srinagar City are requested to cooperate and avail the service free of cost for maintaining proper sanitation on the auspicious occasion of Eid-Ul-Azha,” the advisory said.

According to the notification, collection vehicles have been deployed in several areas, including Ward No. 1, Lal Chowk, Dal, Kralyar, Khayam/Nai Sarak and Zaina Kadal.

The SMC also released contact details of drivers and vehicle numbers for different wards to facilitate timely collection of sacrificial waste and prevent unhygienic conditions in residential areas.

The corporation urged people to coordinate with the designated teams in their respective localities and help maintain cleanliness during the festival.
