Srinagar: Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Sunday remembered veteran journalist Syed Shujaat Bukhari on his eighth death anniversary, describing him as a “credible, compassionate and courageous voice in journalism” who remained deeply connected to the aspirations, concerns and dignity of his people till the very end.
In a statement, the Mirwaiz said Bukhari sought to build understanding through reason and dialogue during times of uncertainty and conflict.
“Remembering Syed Shujaat Bukhari on his 8th martyrdom anniversary. A credible, compassionate and courageous voice in journalism, one which remained deeply connected to the aspirations, concerns and dignity of his people till the end. Through reason and dialogue, he sought to build understanding in times of uncertainty and conflict,” he said.
The Mirwaiz also prayed for the slain journalist, saying: “May Allah grant him the highest place in Jannah and may his life continue to inspire those who believe in truth, justice and peace.”
