Gujarat pilgrims visit Gulmarg Shiv Temple as part of Sindhu Kumbh Yatra
Gulmarg: A large group of pilgrims from Gujarat visited the historic Gulmarg Shiv Temple recently as part of the ongoing Pratham Sindhu Kumbh pilgrimage.
Travelling under the banner of the Sindhu Darshan Yatra Samiti, the devotees trekked to the hilltop shrine in Gulmarg and offered prayers at the temple, popularly known as the Maharani Temple.
The pilgrimage is drawing participants from various parts of the country to explore religious and cultural sites across Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
Built in 1915 by Maharani Mohini Bai Sisodia, wife of the erstwhile Maharaja Hari Singh, the temple is one of Gulmarg’s prominent landmarks and attracts devotees and tourists alike.
Organisers said the yatra aims to promote cultural exchange, spiritual tourism and national integration by connecting pilgrims from different regions with the heritage and traditions of Jammu and Kashmir.
The influx of pilgrims is also expected to provide a boost to local tourism and businesses in the popular hill resort.
