Srinagar: Two candidates from Jammu and Kashmir have secured places among the top 138 performers in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2026, the results of which were announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Friday.
According to the NTA, Hadiya Nisar secured All India Rank (AIR) 99 with a percentile of 99.9930996, while Zaidan Wani secured AIR 124 with the same percentile. Both candidates are among the 138 students across the country who scored 690 marks or above in the examination.
This year, nearly 20 lakh candidates appeared for NEET-UG, of whom 11,21,185 qualified for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and other undergraduate medical courses. The NTA said 19 candidates scored above 700 marks, while 138 candidates secured 690 marks or more. Women accounted for over 58 per cent of the qualified candidates.
At the national level, Aryan Gupta of Punjab topped the examination by scoring 715 out of 720 marks, securing AIR 1with a percentile of 99.9999. Panshul Bansal of Haryana secured AIR 2 with the same score and percentile, while Uplakshya Goyal of Rajasthan secured AIR 3. The remaining top 10 rank holders include Ayush Bhalotia (Bihar), Kudale Shravani Krishna (Maharashtra), Riya Ranjan (Bihar), Aryan Dubey (Uttar Pradesh), Geetansh Sarin(Punjab), Gaurav Singh Mohanish (Rajasthan) and Maruti Bhosale (Maharashtra).
According to the NTA, the OBC-NCL category recorded the highest number of qualified candidates at 5.12 lakh, followed by 2.91 lakh from the General category, 1.59 lakh SC candidates, 95,026 Gen-EWS candidates, 63,716 ST candidates and 3,666 Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD). The qualifying cut-off for the General category ranged from 715 to 213 marks.
