Srinagar: The water level in the River Jhelum continued to rise by 6 pm on Thursday following recent rainfall across Kashmir but remained below the warning mark at all major gauge stations, according to the Irrigation and Flood Control Department.
The department said that at 6 pm, the Jhelum was flowing at 19.76 feet at Sangam against the warning level of 21 feet, 4.62 metres at Pampore against the warning level of 4.5 metres (below the flood level of 5 metres), 17.34 feet at Munshibagh against 18 feet, and 10.25 feet at Asham against 14 feet. The water level in Wular Lake was recorded at 1575.69 metres, below the reference level of 1578 metres.
Among the tributaries, Vishow Nallah at Khudwani was flowing at 7.72 metres, just below its warning level of 7.75 metres. Rambiyara Nallah at Wachi stood at 2.22 metres, Lidder Nallah at Batkoot at 1.42 metres, and Doodhganga at Barzulla at 1.35 metres, all remaining within safe limits. The water level of Sindh Nallah at Doderhama was not reported in the 6 pm bulletin.
Officials said the river system continues to be monitored closely and no flood alert had been issued as of 6pm on Thursday.
