Ranchi: The indefinite sit-in by students and job aspirants at Ranchi’s Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium has entered its 12th day, with the agitation over alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) recruitment examinations showing no signs of slowing down.
The students’ protest has intensified, with demonstrators announcing an Assembly gherao during the upcoming Monsoon Session to press their demands.
Hundreds of job aspirants continue to participate in the protest, while several student leaders, including Devendra Mahato, remain on an indefinite hunger strike.
The protesters are demanding the cancellation of what they describe as tainted recruitment examinations, a judicial inquiry by retired High Court judges from outside Jharkhand, and a CBI probe into the alleged paper leak and recruitment scam. They have also called for the cancellation of all examinations conducted by private agency TDPL, alleging serious irregularities, including leaked OMR sheets.
Rejecting the state government’s reliance on the CID probe, the students say they have lost confidence in the investigation and insist that any talks with the government must be held publicly in the presence of the media.
The agitation is expected to intensify further, with multiple student groups planning separate marches to the Assembly.
Protesters maintain that the movement is independent of political parties and is being sustained through voluntary support from local temples and social organisations.
