Jammu: A Pakistan resident who tried to cross the International Border was apprehended by the Border Security Force (BSF) in the Kanachak sector of Jammu on Thursday morning, officials said.
The man was apprehended by personnel of the 44 BSF Battalion near Border Out Post (BOP) Sohan during the morning hours.
Following his apprehension, the man was taken into BSF custody, while senior officials also reached the spot and took stock of the situation.
The person is presently being questioned to ascertain his identity, purpose of entry and other relevant details, officials told Kashmir News Observer.
The Jammu region shares a sensitive stretch of the International Border with Pakistan, where BSF personnel maintain round-the-clock vigil to prevent unauthorised crossings and other border-related activities.
Cases involving persons who inadvertently or deliberately cross the border are generally investigated to establish their identity, nationality and purpose of entry.
