Iranian officials said Friday that the country’s military capabilities have forced the United States to change its tactics in the ongoing conflict, while Tehran continued to signal it was open to diplomacy but rejecting pressure to surrender, The Indian Express reported.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Tehran was ready to talk to Washington but not on what he called the “language of force”.
Iranian officials have warned that more US attacks could lead Tehran to expand the geographical scope of the conflict. Yahya Rahim Safavi, an adviser to Iran’s supreme leader, said the fighting could spread to the Indian Ocean if the United States launched another attack.
The comments came as the two sides considered diplomatic options. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran proposed a seven-day plan to stop hostilities, reopen the Strait of Hormuz and resume nuclear talks and that it could be implemented if Washington agreed.
The United States has continued to experience limitations on its military operations in the region as a result of Iranian attacks, which have increased risks for US forces and restricted freedom of movement in the Gulf, according to analysis.
