India on Saturday reacted sharply to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s remarks at the United Nations warning of consequences of continued terrorism and rejecting his references to Kashmir, NDTV reported.
Exercising India’s right of reply at the UN, Indian diplomat Petal Gahlot told the General Assembly that Sharif’s comments were “bizarre”. She accused Pakistan of supporting terrorism while claiming to uphold regional security.
According to Indian media reports, “The message is clear: Terror will have consequences. We will act to defend ourselves,” Gahlot said. She brought up Osama bin Laden, saying the al-Qaida leader was found living near Pakistan’s top military school in Abbottabad.
In his Friday address, Sharif said US President Donald Trump’s “timely intervention” helped during the 2025 India-Pakistan conflict and once again raised the Kashmir issue, calling for a “just and fair solution”.
India has rejected Trump’s claims that a third party could mediate in the dispute and has said that Jammu and Kashmir is an inseparable part of India.
