MeT: Season’s first major rain, snowfall expected over JK from Oct 8-11

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness its first major spell of rain and snowfall of the season from October 8 to 11, with light rain and snowfall over higher reaches expected at scattered places, according to the Meteorological Centre.

The MeT Centre said that the weather is likely to remain generally dry across Jammu and Kashmir till October 4, while light rain and snowfall over higher reaches are expected on October 5 and 6.

According to the latest forecast, the weather is expected to remain generally dry till October 4.

“On October 5 and 6, the weather is likely to be partly to generally cloudy, with light rain, thunder and gusty winds at a few places. Light snowfall is also possible over the higher reaches during the period,” the MeT Centre said.

Another spell of partly to generally cloudy weather is expected from October 9 to 11, when light rain, light snowfall over higher reaches, thunder and gusty winds may occur at scattered places.

The Meteorological Centre has advised farmers to continue harvesting apples and paddy, along with other agricultural operations, during the period.
