A US federal court has thrown out a sexual abuse lawsuit brought by the sister of OpenAI chief executive Sam Altman that accused him of years of abuse. Altman had dismissed the claims, BBC reported.
US District Judge Zachary Bluestone threw out the case on Tuesday after Annie Altman declined to appear at an independent medical examination that she was warned repeatedly she might face elimination.
In January 2025, she filed a lawsuit against Altman in federal court in St. Louis, Missouri. The lawsuit stated that in suburban Clayton – where the family lived at their family home – Altman was “sexually abusing and raping” his sister from 1997 through 2006. It began when she was 3 and he was 12, the filing said.
Santos Perez, who initially represented Altman before stepping back from the case this month, issued a statement saying he is no longer allowed to talk about the case but that he still believes in Altman.

The Altman family has claimed Annie was paid off, and the allegations were false. Sam Altman said the accusation was made after the family turned down more money from her.
Altman rose to prominence within the artificial intelligence industry in the wake of ChatGPT’s 2022 release.
