India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh was met by Iranian Vice-President Mohammad Reza Aref and Tajikistan Prime Minister Qohir Rosulzoda at the The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation(SCO) meet in Dushanbe, Tajikistan on Tuesday.

The meetings were aimed at deepening bilateral relations as India interacted with its regional partners during SCO Council of Heads of Government summit, according to ANI.

On X, Singh shared news about his interaction with Rosulzoda, where he pointed out the “longstanding civilisational ties and deep people-to-people links” between India and Tajikistan.

Singh also saw Aref, the first vice-president of Iran, on the same trip.

Singh had also called at the SCO meeting for a collective effort against terrorism. There should be “no double standards” for those who fund, harbour or indulge terrorists, the minister said.

The connectivity between Central Asia and the rest of the world can be improved through Chabahar port in Iran and International North-South Transport Corridor, he also pointed out, according to The New Indian Express.

The meetings come as SCO member states are discussing issues of trade, economic cooperation, transport connectivity, and regional security in the gathering in Dushanbe.
