Jammu: Police have arrested two persons in Jammu and Kashmir’s R S Pura area for allegedly sharing sensitive security-related information with foreign intelligence operatives and handlers linked to Pakistan-based militant organisations, officials said.

The accused have been identified as Arun Kumar, son of Bihari Lal and a resident of Mathwar in Akhnoor, and Gorav Sharma, son of Jyoti Prakash and a resident of Mokhey in R S Pura.

According to officials, the arrests were made following specific and credible inputs regarding the alleged transmission of sensitive information with potential implications for national security in the border area of R S Pura.

Police have registered FIR No. 189/2026 at Police Station R S Pura under Sections 3 and 5 of the Official Secrets Act, 1923, and Sections 152 and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the spokesman said.

Preliminary investigations have indicated that the accused allegedly shared photographs and electronic data related to security matters with foreign intelligence operatives through encrypted communication channels. These operatives were reportedly linked to terrorist organisations and entities based in Pakistan, police said.

The investigation is ongoing to determine the full extent of the alleged activities, assess their potential security implications and identify other individuals who may be involved.

Police said strict legal action would be taken against activities deemed prejudicial to the security and integrity of the country.
