New Delhi: Ninety-nine people across India have experienced adverse reactions after receiving COVID vaccine shots on Saturday but only two were considered serious enough to require hospitalization, Times of India reported.

Quoting officials, the report said that there were no reports of adverse effects requiring hospitalisation till Saturday evening.

“Eleven adverse reactions were noticed in Telangana, 22 in Maharashtra (14 of 22 were minor cases), 52 in Delhi and 14 in West Bengal. Fifty-one out of the 52 healthcare workers in Delhi who had an adverse reaction were minor adverse events. One adverse event, which required hospital admission, was reported late Saturday evening from AIIMS where the healthcare worker had been admitted, the report said quoting the official.

In Kolkata, top health official Ajay Chakravorty said that all but one of the 14 who had experienced adverse reactions had been allowed to go home after an hour’s observation.

Meanwhile, the Health Minister of Delhi Satyender Jain has said that there have been 51 cases of minor complications reported from the vaccine. There was one severe case, where the patient was admitted to the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences.

“There have been 51 minor incidents yesterday where there were some minor complications and 1 was a bit serious. The severe case was been admitted to AIIMS. Till last night he was admitted there,” news agency ANI quoted Jain as saying.

The minister said: “Only one case in Delhi had to be admitted to the hospital, the remaining 51 did not have to be hospitalised. They were only observed for a short while.”

Meanwhile, 29 people have died within days of receiving the Pfizer’s coronavirus vaccine shot in Norway.

The Scandinavian country, which has inoculated more than 25,000 people since the vaccination drive began on December 27 last year, has confirmed the deaths to news agency Bloomberg.
