Cold wave grips JK, Ladakh; Pulwama records minus 8.5°C

Srinagar: The Kashmir Valley shivered as temperatures plummeted across the region, with several areas recording sub-zero levels.

In Kashmir, Sonamarg and Pulwama recorded the lowest temperatures at -8.5°C, while Shopian plunged further to -8.8°C. Srinagar experienced a chilly -6.6°C, and Pahalgam recorded -7.8°C. The lowest temperature in the region was reported at Zojila, dipping to a freezing -23.0°C.

In the Jammu region, Banihal recorded -2.0°C, while Padder registered -5.7°C. Other areas like Bhaderwah and Poonch remained just above freezing, at 0.9°C and 0.7°C, respectively. Jammu city, however, remained relatively warmer at 7.6°C.

Ladakh continued to reel under frigid conditions, with Leh reporting -9.2°C and Kargil at -7.8°C.

These bone-chilling temperatures highlight the intensifying cold wave across the region as winter tightens its grip.
