Development must not come at cost of agriculture, forests: Bashir Veeri in assembly

Jammu: National Conference (NC) legislator Bashir Ahmad Veeri raised concerns in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly over environmental degradation, stressing that development should not come at the expense of agriculture, forests, and green heritage.

“We don’t need development at the cost of our agricultural, forest, and green heritage. Only agriculture and forests can sustain our economy,” Veeri said, stressing upon the vital role of these sectors in the region’s economic stability.

He also voiced concerns over rising unemployment, calling for a cap on reservations. “Our youth are suffering due to growing unemployment,” he said, urging the government to address the issue effectively.
