Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah reassured AAP legislator Mehraj Malik after he protested his seat placement behind opposition BJP members in the House, PTI reported.

During the Question Hour, Malik interrupted Abdullah’s response on the revamped power distribution scheme, prompting speaker Abdul Rahim Rather to warn him against disorderly conduct. Malik had earlier raised concerns over drug addiction and liquor wholesale stores and later criticised the government’s failure to improve power and water supply in Doda.

Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary urged Malik to respect the leader of the House. In response, Abdullah clarified that seating arrangements are decided by the speaker. “You are in my heart and a younger brother. I would have liked you to sit near me,” he said, drawing laughter in the House.

Abdullah also addressed BJP MLA Shakti Raj Parihar’s query on power losses, stating that Jammu and Kashmir faces 50% transmission and distribution (T&D) losses. He noted that Rs86.28 crore has been sanctioned for loss reduction in Doda, with completion expected next year.
