Punjab student body urges calm, support for Kashmiri students

Hindutva outfit Hindu Raksha Dal issued threats to identify and physically assault Kashmiri Muslims in Uttarakhand.

Srinagar: The United Sikh Students Federation (USSF) in Punjab has called for peace and solidarity, urging people to stand with Kashmiri students currently studying in the state.

In a statement, the federation stressed that incidents of violence should not be used to generalise or vilify entire communities. “These are challenging times. We extend our condolences to the victims’ families, but we must also reject hate and collective blame,” the statement said.

Highlighting that a large number of Kashmiri students are enrolled in various educational institutions across Punjab, the USSF reminded the public that these students are here to pursue their education and build a better future. “They are part of our academic community and deserve to be treated with dignity and fairness,” it added.

The federation assured that it would work closely with colleges and authorities to ensure that every student, regardless of their background, feels safe and supported.

To assist students in need, the USSF has shared helpline numbers: 6284513899, 9855776846, 8791523577, and 7888781935.

The group also appealed to both students and the general public to uphold unity and help maintain a peaceful atmosphere.
