Jammu: Offline registration for the 2025 Amarnath Yatra began in Jammu on Sunday at several special counters set up by the administration to accommodate devotees unable to register online. The annual pilgrimage to the cave is set to start on July 3, with access available via both Baltal and Pahalgam routes.

To safeguard pilgrims, the CRPF has implemented a comprehensive multi-layered security plan along the Srinagar-Jammu highway, a critical route for the pilgrimage. Measures include increased patrolling, deployment of K-9 dog squads, and enhanced surveillance, especially in sensitive areas such as the Udhampur sector.

The first batch of pilgrims will depart from the Jammu base camp on July 2, a day ahead of the official Yatra start. In preparation, the CRPF, Indian Army, JK Police, and JKSDRF recently conducted a joint mock drill at Samroli near Toldi Nallah on highway to simulate landslide emergencies.

The drill focused on inter-agency coordination for handling landslides, evacuating stranded vehicles, and delivering immediate medical assistance to pilgrims—highlighting the authorities’ commitment to a safe and hassle-free Yatra.

With offline registration underway and strong security measures in place, thousands of pilgrims are expected to take part in this year’s spiritually significant journey.
