CPI leader Chandu Rathod shot dead during morning walk in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Chandu Rathod, 47, a state council member of the Communist Party of India (CPI), was shot dead by unidentified attackers on Tuesday morning at Shalivahana Nagar Park, within Malakpet police limits.

The incident took place around 7:3o am while Rathod was out for a walk.

According to police, three to four unknown assailants arrived in a car and attacked him by hurling chilli powder. As he tried to escape, they opened fire, killing him instantly.

Rathod’s family alleged that he had a long-running rivalry with a CPI (ML) leader from Devaruppala, the New Indian Express reported.

Malakpet police reached the scene and have begun an investigation. More details are awaited.
