Srinagar: The Meteorological Department has issued a weather advisory for Jammu and Kashmir, predicting spells of heavy to very heavy rain over the coming days, which may trigger flash floods, landslides, and shooting stones in vulnerable areas.
As per the forecast, July 16–17 and July 21–23 will witness generally cloudy weather with intermittent spells of light to moderate rain or thundershowers at many places, with intense downpours at a few locations and heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated spots.
Between July 18–20, the region is expected to experience light to moderate rainfall or thundershowers at scattered to fairly widespread places**.
The department has cautioned that there is a possibility of intense showers at several locations during the high-alert periods (July 16–17 and July 21–23).
Flash floods may occur in vulnerable areas, along with a heightened risk of landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones, especially along hilly and highway stretches.
Residents and travellers are advised to stay alert, avoid risky terrains, and follow updates from official channels for weather-related advisories.
