New Delhi: The Monsoon Session of Parliament commenced on Monday, marking the first session since Operation Sindoor—India’s precision airstrikes against terror camps in Pakistan following the April 22 attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives, mostly tourists.
Before formal proceedings began, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi addressed both Houses.
In his remarks, Modi said the world had witnessed India’s military prowess through Operation Sindoor. He highlighted that the Indian Army successfully completed the mission by destroying the homes of those responsible for terrorism within just 22 minutes.
He noted that the operation not only demonstrated the nation’s military strength but also showcased the growing capabilities of India’s domestic defence industry.
He said as Parliament speaks in a unified voice, it boosts the morale of our armed forces, inspires citizens, and fuels progress in defence research, innovation, and manufacturing.
The Prime Minister also mentioned ongoing efforts against Maoist and Naxalite insurgents, stating that many of the previously affected regions are now peaceful and governed by constitutional authority instead of violence.
He appealed to all members of Parliament to ensure the smooth functioning of the session, stressing that while political views may differ, national interest must remain paramount.
