Kashmir continued to reel under intense cold conditions, with most parts of the Valley recording sub-zero minimum temperatures, according to data compiled by Kashmir Weather.
Gulmarg was the coldest place in the region, recording a low of minus 8.6 degrees Celsius, followed by Pahalgam at minus 6.8 degrees. Anantnag recorded a minimum of minus 5.6 degrees, while Pulwama settled at minus 5.4 degrees. Srinagar city recorded a low of minus 4.0 degrees Celsius, while the temperature at Srinagar Airport dipped further to minus 4.8 degrees.
Other parts of the Valley also witnessed freezing temperatures, with Shopian recording minus 6.0 degrees, Budgam minus 3.9 degrees, Baramulla minus 4.0 degrees and Kupwara minus 3.1 degrees. Kokernag recorded a minimum of minus 2.0 degrees, while Awantipora settled at minus 2.4 degrees. Kulgam recorded a relatively higher minimum of minus 0.2 degrees. Temperature data for Ganderbal, Sonamarg and Zethan Rafiabad was not available.
In the Jammu region, temperatures remained comparatively higher, though some areas experienced near-freezing conditions. Jammu city recorded a low of 5.2 degrees Celsius, while Banihal and Batote recorded 1.5 degrees and 1.7 degrees, respectively. Bhaderwah was the coldest in the region at minus 2.2 degrees. Rajouri recorded a minimum of 0.0 degrees Celsius.
In Ladakh, Leh recorded a freezing minimum temperature of minus 11.2 degrees Celsius, reflecting the region’s harsh winter conditions.
Meteorological authorities have advised residents to take precautions as cold conditions persist across Jammu and Kashmir.
