Meta on Friday announced agreements with three nuclear energy companies — Vistra, TerraPower and Oklo — to supply power for its Prometheus AI supercluster data center being built in Ohio.
The projects are expected to add 6.6 gigawatts of power by 2035.
The company said the partnerships would help meet growing energy demands for its artificial intelligence infrastructure and support thousands of construction and long-term jobs. Prometheus is expected to come online in 2026.
The move reflects a broader trend among tech giants turning to nuclear energy to fuel AI expansion. Oklo, one of the partners, is backed by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, who stepped down from its board earlier this year to avoid conflicts of interest.
