New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed an appeal in the Delhi High Court challenging a special court’s order discharging former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia and others in the liquor-policy case, officials said.

Various reports quoting sources said the agency has raised several grounds in its appeal, arguing that key aspects were ignored and not adequately considered at the stage of framing of charges by the special court.

Earlier, in a major relief to Arvind Kejriwal and his ex-deputy Manish Sisodia, a Delhi court on Friday discharged the two leaders after refusing to take cognisance of the CBI’s charge sheet in the politically sensitive excise policy case.

Besides the two AAP leaders, 21 others were given a clean chit in the case, including Telangana Jagruthi founder and former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter K Kavitha.
