Amit Shah lands in Leh for 2-day visit; to attend Buddha relics expo

Leh: Home Minister of India Amit Shah on Thursday arrived in Leh on a two-day visit, during which he is scheduled to attend a series of official and ceremonial engagements, officials said.

An official said that the visit coincides with Buddha Purnima and the first-ever international exposition of the holy relics of Gautama Buddha, set to begin on May 1.

He said that during his stay, the Home Minister is expected to attend the inaugural function of the exposition and review ongoing developmental initiatives in the Union Territory.

Senior officials from the administration and security agencies are also likely to brief him on key issues concerning UT Ladakh.

In a post on X, the Ladakh LG said, “People from all walks of life, dressed up in traditional attire, queued up outside the Airport, to accord a heartfelt welcome to the Home Minister. He will be paying respects to the Holy Relics of Lord Buddha, tomorrow on the occasion of the 2569th Buddha Purnima.”

Hon’ble HM’s visit and his vision for the development of Ladakh, shall motivate us to work for fulfilling the aspirations of the people of Ladakh.
