Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday carried out separate actions in Kulgam and Srinagar against alleged drug peddlers, including demolition of illegal structures and attachment of property worth over Rs 1 crore.

In Kulgam, police, along with the district administration, demolished three illegally constructed shops belonging to an NDPS accused identified as Jahangeer Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohd Ismail Bhat, a resident of Chinigam Frisal falling under the jurisdiction of Yaripora police station.

Police said the action was taken after completing all legal formalities and that the structures were linked to the accused’s alleged involvement in narcotics-related offences. Officials said the move was part of the ongoing campaign targeting drug peddlers and their support networks.

Meanwhile, in Srinagar, police seized a residential house along with land worth approximately Rs1.20 crore belonging to alleged drug peddler Adil Manzoor Bhat alias Watson of Pamposh Colony, Noorbagh.

According to police, the accused is involved in FIR No. 48/2022 registered under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act at Safakadal police station and is currently out on bail.

The property was attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act after obtaining approval from the competent authority, SAFEMA, New Delhi. The action was carried out by a police team headed by the in-charge of Police Post Noorbagh under the supervision of senior officers.

Police said the crackdown against drug trafficking would continue and urged the public to share information related to narcotics activities to help curb the drug menace in the Valley.
