Ganderbal: In the past 55 days, 1,036 FIRs have been registered, 1,128 drug smugglers arrested, more than 100 properties attached, nearly 700 driving licences cancelled, and recommendations made for the cancellation of passports of 130 alleged drug traffickers, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said on Friday.
The figures were released by the Lt Governor while participating in the ‘Drug-Free J&K’ campaign in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal, where he joined citizens in a march and addressed a public gathering.
In a post on X, Sinha said that a “historic movement against narco-terrorism” had taken root across the Kashmir Valley.
“Having now visited every district in Kashmir Valley and stood with each march, I can say that a historic movement against narco-terrorism has risen,” he said.
Sinha said the anti-drug campaign has gained momentum across the Valley and reiterated the administration’s commitment to eliminating the drug menace and dismantling networks involved in narcotics trafficking.
