New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) is conducting the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination on Sunday amid one of the most extensive security arrangements ever put in place for a national entrance test.
The pen-and-paper examination is scheduled from 2 pm to 5.15 pm at 5,440 centres spread across 551 cities in India and 14 international locations. More than 22 lakh medical aspirants are expected to take the test.
Entry into examination centres began in the morning, with gates set to close at 1.30 pm. Candidates have been instructed to carry freshly issued admit cards, as hall tickets from the original May 3 examination are not valid for Sunday’s re-test.
Authorities have tightened security through biometric authentication, frisking teams, CCTV surveillance, AI-enabled monitoring, signal jammers, dog squads and enhanced police deployment to prevent any malpractice.
The re-examination follows the cancellation of the original NEET-UG 2026 test after allegations of a question paper leak triggered nationwide outrage and raised concerns over the integrity of the country’s biggest medical entrance examination.
Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan urged candidates to appear for the examination “fearlessly”, expressing confidence in the arrangements made by the NTA and state administrations.
The NTA has advised students and parents to rely only on official channels for updates related to the examination.
