MP CM Mohan Yadav’s family bought 168 acres near roads built by his govt: Report

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav with his wife, Seema, and two sons.

Bhopal: Family members of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and companies linked to them purchased at least 137 land parcels spread across 168 acres for about Rs 45 crore after he assumed office in December 2023, according to an investigation by The Indian Express based on land registry records in and around Ujjain.

The report said most of the land purchases were made along road corridors announced by the state government or in areas earmarked for development under the Ujjain Master Plan 2035.

The acquisitions were made by Yadav’s wife Seema, daughter-in-law Shalini, brothers Nandlal and Narayan, other relatives, and four real estate companies associated with the family. Of the 168 acres acquired after he became chief minister, around 12 acres involved transfers within the family.

According to the report, the family already owned at least 179 acres across 108 plots before Yadav became chief minister. It stated that land purchases increased significantly after December 2023, with at least 92 acres across 62 plots bought in 2025 alone.

The investigation found that nearly 111 acres of the land acquired after Yadav took office were located near road projects announced by his government. These included parcels in Gangedi, Unhel, Jaiwantpura and Chandesara, areas connected to highway expansion and road-widening projects.

The report also said the family owns land in several zones where the Ujjain Master Plan 2035 changed land use from agricultural to residential or commercial purposes. It noted that the family acquired additional land in some of these reclassified areas after Yadav became chief minister.

The expansion of the family’s real estate holdings was reportedly led by Yadav’s cousins, Govind and Nilesh Yadav, who undertook multiple land transactions and housing projects in and around Ujjain.

The report further stated that Yadav directly owns at least 17 acres in Ujjain, while his family-controlled company, Shri Siddhivinayak Devcons Pvt Ltd, holds more land across key locations in the city.
