Administration says no pilgrim will be allowed to undertake the Yatra before their allotted date, citing Supreme Court-mandated daily limits.

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Wednesday urged Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra pilgrims to complete advance registration before travelling to the Union Territory, saying Tatkal (on-the-spot) registration slots are extremely limited because of the Supreme Court-mandated cap on the daily number of pilgrims.

In a public notice, the administration said the apex court has fixed a maximum daily limit of pilgrims permitted on the Yatra route and that strict adherence to the ceiling is mandatory to ensure the safety of devotees and the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage.

It said advance registration had been opened well before the Yatra through designated bank branches across the country and online platforms, and that most pilgrims had already completed the process.

The administration said it would not be possible to accommodate thousands of unregistered pilgrims arriving in Jammu and Kashmir under the Tatkal facility and advised such devotees to wait for their allotted turn and travel only on the date assigned by the authorities.

It also said some registered pilgrims were reaching Jammu and Kashmir before their scheduled travel dates, clarifying that no one would be allowed to undertake the pilgrimage before the date mentioned in their registration.

Reiterating that every pilgrim would get an opportunity to undertake the Yatra, the administration said this would be possible only in accordance with the prescribed procedure and the available daily capacity. It appealed to pilgrims to maintain order and cooperate with the authorities to ensure the safety of all.
