Jammu: Armed forces launched search operations at multiple locations in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur, Reasi and Kathua districts on Tuesday following reports of suspicious movement, officials said.

Police and the CRPF jointly launched a cordon-and-search operation after two suspected persons were reportedly seen in the area.

According to officials, the two men, who were wearing shawls, allegedly knocked on the door of a resident, Prakash Chand, in Talot village of Udhampur late Monday night and asked for food.

The residents reportedly did not respond despite repeated knocks. The two men later left the area towards Khuban, following which the residents alerted the armed forces.

Police and CRPF teams subsequently reached the village and began searches, officials said.

Separate search operations were also carried out in the Sadini forests of Reasi and in villages near the International Border in Kathua’s Hiranagar sector.

Officials said searches were continuing in areas where reports of suspicious movement had been received.
