Palestinian media has reported injuries Thursday after an Israeli airstrike hit a tent providing shelter to displaced persons in the Mawasi area, west of Khan Yunis in southern Gaza, Shehab News Agency posted on X.

No immediate confirmed numbers have been released on how many, if any, were wounded or the seriousness of those injuries. Rescue and ambulance crews were reported to have reached the scene.

The Mawasi area has served as a temporary and crowded shelter for thousands of displaced Palestinians from areas around Gaza. Numerous strikes had hit the designated ‘safe zone’ numerous times during the latest conflict, with additional strikes causing several deaths and injuries in tents for displaced persons.

The Thursday attack marks the last strike that had hit within Gaza despite the October 2025 peace treaty signed between Israel and the Palestine Authority. Palestinian Health Authorities and local doctors have continued to report and confirm numerous injuries and deaths during air strikes and fire from the IDF while the IDF confirm targeting members and facilities of Hamas.

No immediate comment from Israeli authorities on the latest targeted strike has been confirmed.
