Srinagar: Hot and humid weather is likely to continue across Jammu and Kashmir over the next several days, with the Meteorological Centre Srinagar forecasting brief spells of rain and thundershowers at scattered locations.
According to the weather department, generally hot and humid conditions are expected from August 27 to 30, although isolated areas may receive rain or thundershowers.
A change in weather is likely on August 31 and September 1, when light to moderate rain and thundershowers could occur at many places. Some areas may also experience short spells of intense rainfall, particularly during the morning and afternoon hours.
From September 2 to 7, the weather is expected to remain largely dry, with isolated rain or thundershowers still possible during the morning and afternoon.
The Meteorological Centre has cautioned that intense and localised showers on August 31 and September 1 may lead to flash floods, mudslides and landslides in vulnerable areas.
Residents and travellers in hilly and other landslide-prone areas have been advised to remain cautious and monitor weather conditions, especially during periods of heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, farmers have been advised that harvesting and other routine agricultural activities can continue.
