The National Conference on Tuesday paid tribute to party founder Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah at Naseem Bagh in Srinagar on the occasion of his 44th passing.
Sheikh Abdullah’s grave was visited by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and NC President Dr Farooq Abdullah. They also offered Fatiha and prayers at the grave, as per details available with news agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
Several NC leaders, MLAs, senior party functionaries, workers and supporters gathered at Naseem Bagh to pay tribute to the former Jammu and Kashmir leader.
Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, also known as Sher-e-Kashmir, founded the National Conference and was a significant figure in the political history of Jammu and Kashmir. The first elected prime minister of Jammu and Kashmir was Sheikh Abdullah. He died Sept. 8, 1982, at the age of 76.
The National Conference has been observing his death anniversary at his grave in Naseem Bagh where party leaders and supporters offer their tributes.
Senior party members also recalled the political legacy of Sheikh Abdullah and his contribution to the public life of the region during the event.
