An unidentified body was recovered near a bus stand shed in the Balicharana area of Jammu on Tuesday and police have initiated proceedings to ascertain the circumstances leading to the death, officials said.
An official quoted by the Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said the body was found near the bus stand shed, after which police were informed.
Police reached the spot and started necessary proceedings to find out the circumstances behind the death. Officials said the investigation was in its early stages and more details were pending.
“The identity of the deceased was not immediately known, while the cause and circumstances of the death were yet to be ascertained,” the official said.
The official did not name or age the dead. It was also not immediately clear if the body was found with any injuries or if foul play was suspected.
