The number of people injured in overnight Russian strikes on Kyiv has risen to 13, Ukrainian authorities said Wednesday, as drones hit parts of the capital and damaged civilian and transport infrastructure.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said earlier that several people were injured, with two in serious condition. One man later died in hospital from injuries sustained in the attack, according to the Kyiv City Military Administration.
The strikes damaged petrol stations, a transport infrastructure facility and other sites in several districts of Kyiv. A railway worker was also injured by shrapnel while returning home after his shift, Ukrainian Railways chief Oleksandr Pertsovskyi said.
Russia used jet-powered drones in the attack, according to Ukrainian officials and Reuters. The strikes came hours after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met U.S. President Donald Trump in New York to discuss efforts to end the war.
Russia’s Defence Ministry said its forces carried out overnight strikes using drones against Ukrainian military-industrial, energy and logistics facilities.
