Srinagar: Disgruntled National Conference (NC) legislators on Friday reached the Gupkar residence of party president Dr Farooq Abdullah in Srinagar to meet Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and the party leadership over their grievances regarding the recent cabinet reshuffle-cum-expansion.

As per reports, the legislators arrived at the venue in the morning for the crucial meeting, which is aimed at addressing their concerns and preventing further escalation of differences within the party.

The aggrieved legislators are reportedly upset over being overlooked in the recent cabinet reshuffle and have sought intervention from the party leadership to address their grievances.

One report said the party leadership had asked the legislators to keep independent MLAs out of the delegation meeting with the Chief Minister and the party president. Three independent MLAs are understood to have extended support to the disgruntled legislators over the reshuffle issue.

However, Muzaffar Khan, MLA from Thanamandi, is reportedly not attending the meeting.

On Thursday, NC leader Salman had said that differences within the party were natural and could be resolved through dialogue. He had also indicated that Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah would listen to the grievances of the legislators on Friday.

The outcome of the meeting is expected to be crucial in determining the future course of the dissenting camp within the National Conference. Further details are awaited.
